Suburban RED - Behind the Scenes
Suburban RED - Behind the Scenes
photograph of miniature set
2015

There are several chapters in Suburban RED that required the bedroom set to be produced in miniature. This miniature set, for the Suburban ORANGE chapter was mostly built as a way of saving time and money as I wouldn't have to dress up the whole room this way and I instead dressed up only one wall life-sized and the rest of the room was in miniature. There is a feel with the way objects are that is different when in miniature and this added a strange feeling of claustrophobia to this chapter - which was very appropriate to what happens in the story.

Miniature of orange room. Furniture and shelving made of cut balsa wood and books are cut and creased color paper, folded accordion style. The modern, orb-like spherical television is a painted bottomless laboratory tube flask.
